AEPUM’S CALL FOR THE 4th EDITION OF THE "SPANISH NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS RESEARCH AWARD 2017"

We have published today the 4th edition of the “Spanish National Association of University Programmes for Older Adults Research Award 2017” and the call is open until the 15th September 2017.

This award was created in the academic year 2013-2014 and has as its aim to honour the best research works dedicated to any of the topics related to the objectives and interests developed from the Association. The Prize constitutes the recognition that AEPUM grants to those researchers who devote their efforts to the search for innovative solutions which can favour lifelong learning as a way to enhance seniors’ quality of life.

We inform to AEPUM professors and researchers that the call is open according the following terms: 4TH EDITION CALL OF THE “SPANISH NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS RESEARCH AWARD 2017”.

THE VICE-CHANCELLORS OF THE CRUPV CREATE THE UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES NETWORK FOR OLDER ADULTS OF THE VALENCIAN PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES

The five Valencian public universities have constituted this Wednesday on the La Marina University Venue, located in the city of Benissa (Alicante), the University Programmes Network for older adults of the Valencian Public Universities (CRUPV), a strategic choice constituted by the five Valencian principals on the day that Manuel Palomar, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Alicante, has taken charge of the Vice-Chancellors´ Conference of the Valencian Public Universities (CRUPV). The act, celebrated on the University of Alicante Venue in Benissa, counted with the presence of the five Vice-Chancellors: Manuel Palomar (UA), Esteban Morcillo (UVEG), Francisco José Mora (UPV), Vicent Climent (UJI) and Jesús Pastor (UMH).

As Manuel Palomar, UA Vice-Chancellor has explained ``it is a commitment that the Valencian Public Universities have made a long time ago and which now we are taking a step further with the constitution of this network to face and achieve the challenges that the population of older adults in our territory presents us´´. The new current president of the CRUPV has highlighted that it is about promoting and drawing attention ``their active participation on society, on the familiar sphere, on the lifelong learning, volunteering or in the cultural expression and sports´´. The creation of the University Programmes Network for Older Adults answers the need to promote a major formed citizenship, active, and participative on an inclusive society and for all ages.

THE UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS AND THE SENIOR PROGRAMMES OF THE VIVES NETWORK ARE MEETING THE DAYS 2ND AND 3RD OF FEBRUARY IN TARRAGONA, TO ANALYZE FUTURE MATTERS OF THE PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS ON THE UNIVERSITY SPHERE.

The Vives Network is a non-profit institution which represents and coordinates the common action of 22 universities of 4 European states on higher education, research and culture. Since the year 1994, it offers a platform that provides services for universities, public and private and social organizations, with the purpose to contribute to the process of construction an economic and social development of this cross-border university region of the Mediterranean Europe. The network provides benefits to the university community and to society, with all the guarantees of the qualified experience and the commitment for excellence.

This is the 2nd forum developed by the Vives Network, on the sphere of older adults´ formation and with the aims to offer a space of collaboration between the University Programmes for Older Adults and the Senior Programmes of the Universities, which have pooled their experiences, good practices and concerns which take place on the different university campuses.

XV STATE MEETING OF UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS

XV STATE MEETING OF UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS is going to be held in Santiago de Compostela on the days 12, 13 and 14 of June 2017.

Under the motto ``UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS AS STRATEGIC ELEMENT ON THE LIFELONG EDUCATION´´, the XV AEPUM meeting will address three different fundamental thematic lines of work: a) Permanent education on the university field; b) internationalization and participation; and c) the social responsibility of the university programmes for older adults. We wish these research and work lines stimulate the interest on the production of fruitful contributions to the XV meeting through the presentation of communications and posters.

REPORT ON UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS ON THE MAGAZINE ``ENTRE MAYORES´´

University Programmes for older adults (UPOAs) reached Spain more than 20 years ago. A educational offer whose main defender is the Spanish National Association of University Programmes for Older Adults (AEPUM).

This organism is constituted by public and private universities, as well as other entities whose objective is the higher education for older adults.

Its coverage spreads over the whole Spanish territory resulting in a total number of 44 universities. Madrid, Cantabria, Galicia, Castile and León, Andalucía, Canary Islands, Valencian Community, Murcia, Castile-La Mancha, La Rioja, Navarra, Extremadura, Asturias, Euskadi and Balearic Islands are the communities that, along with the National University of Distance Education (UNED) are immersed in these initiatives.

THE UNIVERSITY OF VALENCIA HAS HELD ITS 7TH HEALTHY WALK

Last Sunday 2nd October it took place the 7th Healthy Walk of ``La Nau Gran´´ organized by the Vicepresidency on Formation Policies and Educative Quality and together, by the University Extension Service and the Physical Education Service and Sports of the University of Valencia.

It is a healthy act, supportive and sustainable which is held every year and that facilitates people from different generations interact and share the public space
