PARTICIPATION OF THE OAUPS IN THE XXVIII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE IAUTA HELD ON 28TH AND 29TH JUNE AT THE RAMÓN LLULL UNIVERSITY, BARCELONA

On 28th June, after the official inauguration by the Rector of the Ramón LLull University (Barcelona) and the President of IAUTA, Prof. Vellas, took place the XXVIII International Conference of the IAUTA.

On 29th June, Prof. José Ramón Belda Medina has participated with the presentation “Using Technology to Motivate Senior Students in Second Language (L2) Learning” that included his study in English language training for Senior Students at the UPUA. This study is also included in a broader study developed by various researchers within the framework of a group of networks for education and educational innovation, promoted by the Deputy Vice-chancellor for Quality of the UA.

AEPUM SUMMON THE 5TH EDITION OF THE "ADORACIÓN HOLGADO SÁNCHEZ AWARD" IN RESEARCH OF THE SPANISH NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS

One more year, AEPUM promotes research in the field of University Programmes for Older Adults through the execution of the 5TH EDITION OF THE “2018 ADORACIÓN HOLGADO SÁNCHEZ AWARD” IN RESEARCH OF THE SPANISH NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS. The call for the submission of the works will be opened from 1st of March 2018 to 15th of September 2018.

This award was created in the Academic Year 2013-14, in order to honour the best works in research carried out on topics and formative and researching areas which are in agreement with the objectives and the interest developed in the Universities that make up AEPUM and develop University Programmes in Spain. The award is supposedly an acknowledgement granted by the Spanish Association of University Programmes for Older Adults to researchers who dedicate their efforts to search for innovative solutions in favour of the lifelong learning, as a way to enhance the education, the personal development and the quality of life of the older adults.   

In June 2017, the 16th Assembly of AEPUMS agreed unanimously to change the name of the Spanish National Association of University Programmes for Older Adults Research Award created in 2013, to “ADORACIÓN HOLGADO SÁNCHEZ AWARD” IN RESEARCH OF THE SPANISH NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF THE UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS, as a heartfelt tribute to the first Secretary of AEPUM. She was a passionate driver of these programmes and she promotes the creation of the Spanish National Association of University Programmes for Older Adults.

Thus, we inform professors and researchers of the universities associated to AEPUM, that the 2018 call is opened, in accordance with the following TERMS OF THE 5TH EDITION CALL OF THE 2018 AEPUM RESEARCH AWARD

34TH OLDER ADULTS' WEEK ORGANIZED BY VALENCIA'S CITY HALL

The University of Valencia's La Nau Gran and the Polytechnic University of Valencia's Senior University participated on the 9th with an informative stand all about University Programmes for Older Adults. It took part during the 34th Older Adults' Week, which is organized by Valencia's City Hall and was held in Valencia from the 6th until the 10th of November, 2017.

They were visited by numerous attendees who were interested in these programmes, including Sandra Gómez, City Councillor for de Elderly.

CONFERENCE CONCLUSIONS: 15TH STATE CONFERENCE OF UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS

Last June 12th, 13th and 14th, 2017, we celebrated the 15TH STATE CONFERENCE OF UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS at the University of Santiago de Compostela, under the motto "UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS AS STRATEGIC ELEMENTS IN A LIFELONG TRAINING".

With great success in terms of attendance, the 15th AEPUM State Conference gathered 192 registrants and a high level of participation from professors, researchers, students, technical staff, as well as those in charge of local, regional and national administrations, related to University Training for Seniors and social attention services for older people.

Three thematic focuses were addressed, serving as fundamental working axes during the 15th Conference: a) Permanent Education in the university field; b) internationalization and participation; and c) social responsibility in older adults' programmes in the university field.

SENIOR EDUCATION 30TH ANNIVERSARY - OCTOBER 9TH

This year we are celebrating the Erasmus+ Programme's 30th anniversary. Due to this date, the SEPIE, Servicio Español Para la Internacionalización de la Educación (Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education) has organized a specific day dedicated to Senior Education next 9th of October in Albacete. Representatives of diverse organizations within the sector will be participating on this day: Senior Education Centres, Official Language Schools, University Programmes for Older Adults, Adult Education Centres, Culture Conferences, Caretaker's Services and other administrations, Associations, Foundations... with or without experience in European educational programmes.

Participating in Erasmus+ can be relevant for University Programmes for Older Adults, which is why we encourage you to register for these conferences before September 14th, 2017, through the following link.

This event is of limited capacity, so all accepted registrations will be receiving a confirmation e-mail once the inscription deadline has passed.

AEPUM Participation in ERASMUS+ day in Albacete

Last October 9th, AEPUM participated in the ERASMUS+ day: 30 YEARS ENRICHING LIVES, OPENING MINDS SENIOR EDUCATION + 30TH ANNIVERSARY - SENIOR EDUCATION Organized by Erasmus+ SEPIE in Albacete at the Casa de la Cultura José Saramago.

The Universities of Oviedo, Murcia, Castellón, A Coruña, Málaga and Alicante have participated actively in the different sessions and presentations.

During 2017 we will be celebrating the Erasmus+ Programme's 30th anniversary, and the SEPIE, Servicio Español Para la Internacionalización de la Educación (Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education) has been organising a day to celebrate such a memorable date for Senior Education. Since the birth of Erasmus+, many institutions have participated in the programme and those Universities that have University Programmes for Older People have greatly benefited from the specific programmes that are available for the collective (more information available in this AEPUM link).
