PARTICIPATION OF THE OAUPS IN THE XXVIII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE IAUTA HELD ON 28TH AND 29TH JUNE AT THE RAMÓN LLULL UNIVERSITY, BARCELONA

On 28th June, after the official inauguration by the Rector of the Ramón LLull University (Barcelona) and the President of IAUTA, Prof. Vellas, took place the XXVIII International Conference of the IAUTA.

On 29th June, Prof. José Ramón Belda Medina has participated with the presentation “Using Technology to Motivate Senior Students in Second Language (L2) Learning” that included his study in English language training for Senior Students at the UPUA. This study is also included in a broader study developed by various researchers within the framework of a group of networks for education and educational innovation, promoted by the Deputy Vice-chancellor for Quality of the UA.

The intervention focuses on how to use technology to motivate students to learn a second language. In this sense, several articles have been published about the digital gap between youth and adult generations and UPUA has participated in several international projects about this theme. The contribution made by Prof. JR Belda in the framework of XXVIII International Conference of the IAUTA, studies and analyses good practices in the use of ICT in L2 learning by students of the Permanent University of the University of Alicante (UPUA)- He teaches the subject "Communicative Workshop in English" and students learn there how to use different technological resources to increase the frequency of use of English, learn more

vocabulary, increase their self-confidence to talk and listen and increase their motivation inside and outside the classroom. In this study, the results have shown the significant benefits of the integration of ICT in the learning of a second language for UPUA students.

The outcomes of this good practice in the use of new tools and new technologies, have served as an example to other U3A, which have had the presence of delegations from all continents.

Friday 29th June 2018, Malgorzata STANOWSKA, AIUTA Governing Board Member, and second Vicepresident, spoke on "Education of older people: conditions, methods and trends" with reference to Poland. Malgorzata STANOWSKA was involved in the European Union Ball Project with U3A Iceland and the Permanent University of the University of Alicante.

Ana Muñoz Gonzalo, Director from Senior University of the Valencian Polytechnic University spoke as Chairman at session 4 where participated Marisol Rapsol, Director U3A San Jose de Costa Rica and Roman Prokop, Director U3A Zlin Czech Republic. The Senior University of the Valencian Polytechnic University will welcome next AIUTA Executive Governing Board, January 2019.
