The university Universidade Sénior de A Coruña (Senior University of A Coruña) has received recognition as the 2nd best initiative at the state level of “SpeakSpeare, singular technological initiative of the Taller Europeo de la Universidade Sénior (European Workshop of Senior Universities) during the academic year 2014-2015. Included in the Catalogue of Best Practices of the European Union for Active Aging,
"The previous academic year 2014-2015, the Taller Europeo de la Universidade Sénior de la Universidade da Coruña (European Workshop of Senior Universities of the University of A Coruña) set in motion two innovative experiences inside the frame of the European Project "ACTing – Social Agents for the promotion of an Active Aging through ICT", of which the Universidade Sénior is a collaborating entity.

In collaboration with our Flemish of the Het Perspectief of Gante (Belgium) an online Club of Poetry was developed under the denomination “En-RED-Versados” in which Belgian and Galician students learned how to handle a blog, use social networks, sharing and commenting their favourite poems. This blog, which is in continuous running, has achieved in less than a year more than 15.000 visits.

With the name SpeakSpeare! – Speak with William”, a singular initiative was carried out in collaboration with our partners of the Universitá di Tempo Libero de Scandiano (Italy) for the improvement of linguistic competences in English Language by the use of ICTs and with the theatre of William Shakespeare as a motivational element. The students participated together with their companions of Italy in a closed group in Facebook to share experiences, information, …

The previous week the experience “SpeakSpeare!” was recognised as the second best singular technological initiative out of all the initiatives presented in all the Spanish state to the competition ACTing and, by this way, is recognised as Best Practice at European Level. Moreover other Galician initiative, of the Ayuntamiento o Concello de San Sadurniño, has been also recognised in the previous month of December as best initiative at European Level.

This recognition is fruit of the effort and compromise of the students who participated in both initiatives, and of the bet of the Universidade Sénior of the UDC for the participation in transnational initiatives in the field of education for adults, which has been developed continuously since the year 2003”.
