CONTENT
This project is based on the need to research about the creation and development of the university programmes and studies for a growing collective, such as the population older than 55 years.
In the area of the “Lifelong Learning” promoted by the European Union and starting from the concept of “Active Ageing” and from the advent of the European Higher Education Area, this project will further discuss the contents, the learning methods and the resources that could foster an improvement in the learning process of this population group, which increasingly asks the University to develop its roll as higher education institution for all ages.
Specific goals:
1) to recognise the characteristics, motivations and expectations of the teachers who work in University Programmes for Older Adults of the Spanish University.
2) to describe and evaluate from a teaching perspective the most common teaching methods in University Programmes for Older Adults, as well as the resources linked to these methodologies.
3) to determine the extent of the use and the utility of the methodologies linked with the Collaborative Learning and with the area of NICTs in these programmes.
(4) to analyse the most frequent problems faced by teachers in these programs, as well as possible ways of solution.
(5) to establish a set of recommendations for the improvement of teaching of the University programmes for Older Adults' teachers, especially in the area of skills learning, collaborative learning and NICTs.
