AEPUM’S CALL FOR THE 5th EDITION OF THE "ADORACIÓN HOLGADO SÁNCHEZ AWARD" IN RESEARCH OF THE SPANISH NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS

TERMS OF THE CALL

In agreement with its Statutes, the essential objective of AEPUM is to promote educational programmes for older adults at a university level, contributing to the formative and cultural development of senior citizens. In this context, the AEPUM RESEARCH AWARD was created in the Academic Year 2013-14, and it is held annually, in order to distinct the best research works carried out on topics and formative and researching areas which are in agreement with the objectives and the interest developed in the association. The Award constitutes the recognition that the National Association of University Programmes for Older Adults grants to those researchers who devote their efforts to the search for innovative solutions in favour of the lifelong learning as a way to enhance the education, the personal development and the quality of life of the older adults. Since 13^th of June 2017, the 16^th Assembly of AEPUMS agreed unanimously to change the name of the Spanish National Association of University Programmes for Older Adults Research Award created in 2013, to “ADORACIÓN HOLGADO SÁNCHEZ AWARD” IN RESEARCH OF THE SPANISH NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF THE UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS, as a heartfelt tribute to the first Secretary of AEPUM. She was a passionate driver of these programmes and she promotes the creation of the Spanish National Association of University Programmes for Older Adults.

I TERMS OF THE 5^th EDITION OF THE “ADORACIÓN HOLGADO SÁNCHEZ AWARD” IN RESEARCH OF THE SPANISH NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR OLDER ADULTS, 2018 CALL:

Works must have been made within the framework of University Programmes for Older Adults and researchers must belong to the universities associated to AEPUM.
Any research work which has not received an award in other calls or contests is eligible for the 2018 AEPUM Research Award.
The works submitted could have been published in 2017 or 2018.
The maximum length of the works will be 30 pages, and according to the stated criteria in Section II SUBMISSION FORMAT.
Applicants must submit the works and fill in the electronic form available in the AEPUM web page, and at the end of these terms (Annexe II- Submission Form and Electronic Register). The research work will be attached in an electronic file without any reference to the author, according to the terms of the call.
Any works that fail to comply with the previous requirements and with the presentation format details including in the I Annexe of this call, will not be admitted.
The Jury will be formed by a joint commission appointed by the AEPUM Governing Board. The members will be renowned professors in the Universities Programmes for Older Adults. To that effect, it will be respected the compatibility to be member of the Jury if the member has not submitted any research work, has not been an evaluator of the work, or is not a member of the research team or director in this call.
The Jury will assess: 1) the formal writing presentation; 2) the approach of the research problem; 3) The development of the research problem; 4) the application of the acquired knowledge and abilities; 5) innovative solutions in favour of the lifelong learning, and the impact and application in PUMPs of the result of the research, according to ANNEXE I 2018 AEPUM RESEARCH AWARD CRITERION.
The call will be published in March 2018 on the AEPUM website, and the period for the submission of works will be opened until 15^th September 2018.
The jury will make a decision within a maximum of three months and will announce its verdict on the AEPUM website as well as in any other media which it is considered appropriate.
The Award presentation will take place in one of the events which are organised annually by AEPUM (National Workshop, International Symposium or Seminar).
The author of the work selected will receive as an award 1000 euros and the invitation to present the work at the event organised by AEPUM.
The award winner will commit to disseminate in all the presentations of the mentioned work (conference, posters, books, articles, magazines) the name of the National Association of University Programmes for Older Adults as entity that has awarded the 2018 AEPUM Research award.
A runner-up award will be granted to the second best research work presented.

II SUBMISSION FORMAT OF WORKS TO THE 2018 AEPUM RESEARCH AWARD

Language: Spanish
Electronic format: The file must be sent through the electronic submission and registration form in PDF format.
Page format and font: DINA 4 size with all margins at 3 cm. Text, single-spaced and with 0-point spacing before and after. Font: Times New Roman, size 12.
Title: font: Times New Roman, size 14, bold and centred.
Author/s: Initial of the name and surname/s, centred below the title, in Times New Roman size 12. The name of the institution to which the author belongs will appear below the author’s name, also centred and with the same size. If the research work has been written by several authors belonging to different institutions, their names will be placed below the name of each author. An asterisk will identify the author who submits the work to the call and his/her e-mail address will appear in Times New Roman, size 10.
Abstract: maximum 250 words in Times New Roman, size 10. Single-spaced. Including the abstract in English and key words (maximum 5).
Text: It will be written using the Times New Roman font, size 12, single line spacing, without any indentation types or full justification. Paragraphs will be separated by a blank line. It will include: A) Introduction; B) Objectives; C) Methodology; D) Results and Discussions; E) Conclusions; F) Bibliographical references.
Abbreviations: In the case of using them, they must be expanded the first time.
Bibliography and references: 6^th edition APA rules in the cited bibliography and bibliographical notes at the end of the work.
Graphs, tables, references must be inserted within the text, and they must have APA format.
Work length: It must not exceed 30 pages following the specified format and including graphs, tables, and bibliographic references. Maximum two figures will be accepted in the text.
Participants of the Contest accept its term and the Jury’s decision.
The Contest could be declared void.
