SECOND CIRCULAR OF THE XIV AEPUM MEETING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GRANADA

University of Granada, 27th, 28th and 29th of May of 2015

“New students’ profiles in the Classrooms for Seniors. Reflections around their perceptions and expectations about the University Programmes for Seniors in Spain”

The participants’ scientific contributions can be presented either orally or on poster. Additionally, the participants must indicate the Thematic Thread for discussion that they may consider the most adequate for the location of their work. Nevertheless, the definite decision, regarding the location and the medium for communication as well, will ultimately correspond to the Organizing Committee and the Scientific Committee.

The chosen Thematic Threads (TT) shaping the XIV Meeting will be the following:

  • TT1: “WHAT MUST BE KEPT, AS IT HAS WORKED CORRECTLY, OF THE ACADEMIC OFFER AND THE STRUCTURE OF THE UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR SENIORS ELABORATED AT THE BEGINNING?”
  • TT2: “HOW DO OUR STUDENTS PERCEIVE THE CURRENT OFFER OF UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR SENIORS?”
  • TT3: “WHAT NEW DEMANDS RELATED TO EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND SERVICE TO THE SOCIETY OF SENIOR STUDENTS ARE NOT YET INCORPORATED IN A GENERALIZED MANNER IN OUR TRAINING OFFER?”

Essays and analyses from researchers in the aforementioned fields and areas will have a place as long as they can contribute with research work, results and relevant proposals.

Here you can find all the information regarding: Enrolment, Preliminary programme, specifications for the presentation of the works, deadlines, places of development and more.

The XIV National Meeting of University Programmes for Seniors will take place at the University of Granada from the 27th to the 29th of May of 2015. Titled as “NEW STUDENTS’ PROFILES IN THE CLASSROOMS FOR SENIORS. REFLECTIONS AROUND THEIR PERCEPTIONS AND EXPECTATIONS ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES FOR SENIORS IN SPAIN”, the coming meeting expects to welcome teachers, researchers, university liaisons, managers and students involved and interested in the teaching, research and management of University Programmes for Seniors.

Since the start-up of the first PUPMs, more than 20 years ago, it has been an evident cultural and sociodemographic evolution in our country. This has supposed that the demands and educational and cultural needs to which Spanish universities initially responded effectively with the university programmes for seniors initiated in the decade of the nineties last century have changed. Nevertheless, the required adaptation has been carried out by the universities and programmes and with the development of each academic year. Even though, there has been no reflection, no analysis of the phenomenon and no joint strategy either and, from AEPUM, we consider them necessary to be made at this moment. The aim is to continue providing satisfaction and educational options to our new senior students of the 21st century and to delve in the knowledge about the perceptions and expectations the students have about the PUPMs in Spain.
