TECNOLOGY ON THE GO. IV INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES OF OLDER ADULTS AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES. UNIVERSITY OF JAUME I CASTELLON.
Nowadays the use of Information and Communication Technologies is every day more present in our daily life, in the way we communicate, inform, learn and create. The people have created new habits and routines adding them to our daily routines to inter-relation with those around us, in a real or virtual way. This provides us with great advantages and information and communication possibilities, new opportunities to the inclusion and in the end to the quality of life. On the contrary, there are also risks and dangers: the digital break, privacy, security, exclusion, etc.
The older adults are an especially meaningful group in current society, with their characteristics, dangers and of course with their potential. It is a responsibility of all of us to facilitate the useful and intelligent use of new technologies. This use has to be implemented through different multidisciplinary actions and in very different ambits: educational, investigation, projects, adapted dispositives, politics, etc. All this to get that the older adults form part of the information and knowledge society.
If in the previous conferences, the motto was “Nobody left behind” in reference to the politics of the European Union to facilitate an inclusive society to all the ages, in this IV International Conferences of Older Adults and new technologies, we propose the motto “Technology on the go”. We understand that every day the dispositives and also Internet are more personal, individual and portable, causing that the technology becomes more social, communitarian and global.
