Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology presents four action guidelines. AEPUM highlights the Senior Good Treatment Guide
Each and everyone of us wish and have the right to be treated well and, in general, it happens so. However, at certain moments and situations, we are improperly treated. This situation could be lived by older adults, both within the family and at the institutions, and even through the media themselves.
This possibility leads to the need of identifying the different warning signals that threaten the good treatment of the elderly. Hence the Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology has created the Senior Good Treatment Guideline, thanks to the coordination of the Vice-Chancellor of Gerontology, María del Puerto Gómez, and the Member of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Pura Díaz Veiga, with the cooperation of BBK.
This guideline will help institutions, families, caregivers, and even seniors to identify signals that demonstrate a possible situation of inadequate treatment or its possibility to happen. The publication discloses the abuse risk factors, indicators and prevention and intervention measures against the different ways of abuse.
