Goals

Main goal: Achieve visibility and integration of the group of older adults with people older than 50, strengthening and improving their self-esteem making them feel as active members of the society, and promoting this way social bonds and contribute to creating the European citizenship.
Specific Goals:

• Adquire a deeper knowledge of the own region's nature and culture, as well as of those of the member countries.
• Achieve a healthier lifestyle, in favor of active aging.
• Adquire or improve skills related to ICTs: social networks, blogs, Microsoft Office and PowerPoint, digital photographies, etc.
• Learn and improve the knowledge of English, language that allows them to communicate with people of all Europe and, in particular, with the other members of this program.
• Give visibility to this group by increasing their confidence and helping them to discover new skills and abilities.
• Intensify the feeling of belonging to Europe.

Content

The project has been divided in three working meetings with the students. Each one of the meetings had the attendance of 10 to 14 people from the visiting countries and three days of activities have been also organized, always related to the natural places of the different regions.

Program of activities:
From the 24th to the 26th of June 2012, study visit to the University of the Third Age in Bialystok (Poland.
Day 24th of June:
- Welcoming reception and conference about the region's nature.
- Guided visit to Bialystok.
- Opening of the exhibition of photography, painting and embroidery.
- Presentation of the artistic activities of the University of the Third Age in Bialystok.
Day 25th of June:
- Day trip to a wood on the outskirts of Bialystok.
- Trees' sowing.
- Visit to the Silvarium in Poxzopek.
- Bonfire at the wood with tradicional food, singing and dancing (folklore of the region).
Day 26 of June:
- Day trip to the Narew River to observe the wild flora of the area.
- Visit to see the storks and the bisons.
- Final session in Kiermusy and handing of the certificates to the participants.

From the 22nd to the 24th of September 2012, study visit to Afyonkarahisar köyleri güzelleçtirme, geliçtirme ve dogal yaçami destekleme dernegi de Afyonkarahisar (Turkey).
Day 22nd of September:
- Welcoming reception and presentation of the region's nature.
- Exhibition of popular dances and songs.
- Opening of the photographic exhibition.
- Guided visit to Afyonkarahisar and walk to the castle.
- Exhibition of the traditional dance sufí.
Day 23rd of September:
- Day trip to Fig Valley and to Erkmen Lake.
- Lunch in a typical ottoman house.
- Visit to Erkmen.
Day 24th of September:
- Day trip to Sandikli Akdag Canyon.
- Trees' sowing.
- Visit to a primary education school and exhibition of traditional dances.
- Final session and handing of certificates to the participants.

From the 13th to the 15th of April 2013, study visit to the Universitat de les Illes Balears (Spain)
Day 13th of April:
- Welcoming reception and conference on the Serra de Tramuntana.
- Opening of the photographic exhibition.
- Exhibition of the traditional dances of Mallorca: el Ball de Bot.
- Sowing a tree in the UIB Campus.
- Guided visit to the city of Palma and to the Castle of Bellver.
Day 14th of April:
- Guided visit to theSerra de Tramuntana: Mirador de Ses Barques, Santuario de Lluc and Gorg Blau dam.
Day 15th of April:
- Day trip to Serra de Tramuntana and its characters: Valldemossa (Chopin), Deià (Robert Graves) and Sóller and its natural pass.
- Final session and handing of certificates to the participants.
