Final Conference on the Adult Learning Action Plan
“It’s always a good time to learn”
Coinciding with the first Hungarian Presidency of the European Union, the European Commission has organised from March 7 to 9 in Budapest the final conference “It’s always a good time to learn” within the framework of the Adult Learning Action Plan.
The aim of this European conference was to evaluate the progress of three years of intensive European cooperation within the framework of adult learning policies and to revise the results obtained during the development of the Adult Learning Action Plan.
Among the Spanish universities with university programmes for older adults that participated in the congress are the University of Cordoba and the University of Alicante.
The University of Alicante was invited by the European Commission to participate in the workshops with the paper: “Spain’s University Programmes for older adults: Lifelong learning and active ageing”. This paper included an introduction on university programmes for older adults in Spain, the presentation of the AEPUM to Europe and examples of good practices of the university programmes for older adults. The presentation was appreciated by the participants, as it offered the possibility to get to know the activities and initiatives carried out in Spain within lifelong learning and concretely within the university programmes for older adults that were not known by most of the participants, mainly representatives of the Ministries of Education and of the autonomous organisations of European educational programmes of the member states.
On the congress webpage http://adultlearning-budapest2011.teamwork.fr/ you can find all the documents and soon there will be the papers of the conference.
