Goals

Offer a scientific framework for the relationship between education and QoL amongst the elderly, on how educational activities can increase senior citizens' QoL and how this educational activity can be assessed.

Increase the skills of staff, specialists and teachers working in education for senior citizens by providing a useful guide with theoretical (justifying and providing the necessary background) and also practical (easily transferable) concepts, together with an evaluation tool based on quality indicators that provides recommendations.

Produce a positive impact on seniors' lives through education, by increasing the quality of the activity of educational institutions working with seniors

Content

Outcomes of the project:

A practical guide for the institution staff to increase their knowledge and competences, introducing and linking concepts of QoL, ageing, society, models, pedagogy, contents and trainers, but also showing experiences and good practices that can be incorporated by any institution.

A practical evaluation toolkit designed to assess an educational process by identifying areas for improvement, and making recommendations. The evaluation toolkit provides 38 quality indicators in 7 educational dimensions (premises, management, models, pedagogy, courses, activities, staff) and in 7 QoL dimensions (physical well-being, psychological well-being, control, participation, integration, personal fulfilment and personal growth). Each dimension is located in all of the previous dimensions to offer a scale of requirements that an educational intervention should meet to increase its impact on seniors' QoL, which can be useful for accreditation. These indicators also offer advice and link to the theoretical concepts and practical experiences of the guide

Innovation in the field through research that will be presented in conferences and journals to illustrate the relationship between education and QoL for senior learners, the possibilities and ways of increasing quality of education and its impact on this sector of population
