Goals
All our findings will be used to design new and innovative study subjects, along with educational programmes and methods suited to older adult students, not only at universities but also, and especially, to those who have not joined the learning process yet. Contact will additionally be established with seniors at local communities, clubs, residences and rural areas by TAU older adult students, who will give them information about learning possibilities within the framework of these centres and will also talk to them about the advantages brought by learning and participation in educational activities. Information will be requested from seniors, who will also be asked to give their opinion about motivation, hindrances for studying, their educational needs, the use of ICTs in learning, and the proposals of new learning themes/subjects with low skill and knowledge levels.
Content
EduSenNet is a project that focuses on the learning possibilities of over-50s at Third Age Universities (TAUs) with the aim of carrying out pedagogical research on seniors’ formal, non-formal and informal learning. The partners will focus their attention on the chances for non-formal and informal learning offered by TAUs, assessing and describing its ties with the formal (regulated) education provided by universities. The offer of study programmes for older adult students will be described using the data collected through the Peer Review tables.
The findings obtained by means of the interviews and questionnaires will be completed and evaluated through the Research Study. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data collected from both groups of seniors (students and non-students) will be used for evaluation. Contacts with young university students will supply results that can eventually materialise in effective solutions for intergenerational learning within the university context.
The compendium of experience along with the promotion of seniors will encourage the development of their learning interests as well as their participation in learning activities. The active involvement of seniors will boost and enlarge both their abilities and their knowledge. There is a need to do research on the learning aims, the motivation and the barriers for seniors who take part in older adult training programmes, as well as for those who do not form part of the study. The project’s activities will contribute to the inclusion of seniors in learning activities as well as to the promotion of their educational needs.

Seniors will participate directly in the project’s activities, organising debates, making interviews and filling in questionnaires.
The most relevant priorities, among them “Contributing to reduce the number of adults with a low skill level" and "Facilitating the validation of non-formal and informal learning and its permeability with the itineraries of formal (regulated) education" will be guaranteed by project partners and the TAUs that form part of public universities or have ties with the universities that host them.
Project partners will broaden their degree of international cooperation at universities on a European level, as well as their international relationships with other universities not directly involved in the project performing its tasks.
All the findings/outcomes will be published in the Booklet that will form part of the EFOS (European Federation of Older Students [at universities]) website, being publicly available for free. This also applies to the project’s news bulletin, which will prove important for the sustainability of its findings.
