Content
The project presented by the local consortium stems from an initiative of collaborative work around the global subject matter "Growing Cities/Ciudades en Crecimiento") led by the Universitè della LiberEtà (Udine, Italy), and constituted by more than 20 members of all Europe, which is based on 4 fundamental lines that are: healthy cities, heritage, culture & territory, entrepreneurship, ICT & Social Exclusion Risk, offering education and collaboration on this field.
The first aim of this project is to participate and collaborate on this line, on which fundamental aspects of the urban current development in Europe are highlighted, where good habits´ stimulating initiatives, a responsible citizenship and the concern towards special segments of population (young persons in search of employment, population in risk of social exclusion, older people, etc.) can have a perfect space.
Within this overall context, and taking into account the special nature and specific purposes of the institutions that conform the national consortium (Older adults´ of the University of Málaga, center of professorship of Antequera, NGOs AIGU and ACP, and the Faraján Council), our concrete project will be focused on a more concrete social aspect, based on the need to form and sensitize the professorship of adults and older adults´ students towards learning the competencies which helps them to develop an active citizenship sharing their free time, their knowledges and previous experiences in social projects that help to consolidate the society of their city from different perspectives and oriented towards its improvement. In this way, this project would be concentrated on the formation of instructors, instructors who under the protection of different perspectives (health, heritage, entrepreneurship, ICT or social exclusion) will encourage and train their adults and older adult´s students as far as possible to address the challenge of participating on different local institutions that are employed at the improvement of the city through the improvement of the people who inhabit it and of their needs.
The volunteering is, thus, a very adequate medium for it, but that, as in many other aspects, needs of a certain formation on competences of a different kind (social, attitudinal, digital, …) which could level the way in this sense.
The main purposes of the project, structured in three sections, have been exposed on the previous section. The main activities will be the mobilities where the personnel of the different institutions of the national consortium will be participating. Moreover, after each mobility, the participants will organize a seminar with the aim to promote the learning of the specific competences for each mobility, and that respond to the objectives of the project itself. The above mentioned mobilities will be based on the following courses and competencies (knowledges, abilities and attitudes) mainly:
- Now your Lifestyle (KYI) Workshops. VHS Klagenfurt (Klagenfurt, Austria). Its principal aim is to teach to inform (abilities) about global themes such as the water, the consumption or the ICT (knowledges) in a simple way, simultaneously to sensitize for the adoption of a sustainable way of life (attitudes).
- Game based learning - a way of increasing engagement and motivation. BIBA (Bremen, Germany). This course shows how the ``serious games´´ and the learning based on the game can be object of learning and become a useful and successful teaching method (knowledges and abilities).
- Growing Cities: two UNESCOs pearls. Art, Nature and Culture. ULE (La Spezia, Italy). This course seeks the learning of the territory, of its culture and natural aspects, of its art and traditions (knowledges) from a different perspective, more experiential and based on the experience (abilities). This way, by knowing better the territory, it is estimated in a more profound manner (attitudes).
- Digital Culture and cultural Policy. CenBad (Czestochowa, Poland). The course will deal with the digital culture as a new form of social ecology. The participants will understand the impacts and implications of digitalization on the development and management of the cultural sources, and its influence on the cultural politics (knowledges).
- Social Literacy for employees working in the public sector. INTEGRA (Velenje, Slovenia). In this course the concept of social literacy will be introduced (knowledges) and it will present different ways of teaching and training in social competences (abilities) such as the social learning, communicative skills, mediation or resolution of problems´ strategies. It can serve as an instrument to the empowering of students with a view to the development of a more active role in the associative world of their city (attitudes).
- Integrated Social Policy for Health and Social Inclusion. Hellenic Agency for Local Development and Local Government (Athens, Greece), with the aim to show innovations on socio-sanitarium policies derived from the local administration through the study of cases, actions and proposals on the part of different public authorities (knowledges), giving key notes for the integration of social services on this line (abilities). This course provides a formation of great value for the creation of links between NGOs and public services, in a way that taking advantage of synergies, results can be optimized (attitudes).
All of these European courses and the national seminars fulfill the double mission of: on the one hand and as a whole, promote a education of holistic and interdisciplinary character which covers in a good way the different necessities in the light of the network of ``Cities in Growth´´ in general, and of the objectives of this project specifically, empowering for an active citizenship, in particular.
